Baseball is Back! EYBA House League Update!

2021-06-13

House League opening date and more details on the upcoming season!

June 13, 2021

Hello EYBA Community,

We hope you are all doing well and staying safe. We have been working hard these last few weeks to prepare for our opening. The government change from the colour system to the new step system has forced a lot of last-minute changes. We continue to work with on Toronto Public Health, the TBA & the OBA to ensure we are following all covid protocols.

We are excited to announce that the current plan is for House League to begin on July 5th! This will not be games quite yet, but a form of practice. This is assuming the province moves to Step 2 on or before this date. This also means we will be playing through September, with a prospective closing weekend of October 2nd/3rd. The full schedule will be published in the next few weeks.

During the week of June 21st, we will be in touch with your child’s team assignment and more details with how your “practice” will look. This year all parents are considered volunteers. We need all of you to make this a safe and successful season. From coaching to scorekeeping, and from contact tracing to covid protocol enforcement, we need everyone’s help. We all want to make baseball this summer a fun experience for all our kids, and we know this awesome community can do it!

We are also still looking for an 11U Convenor. If you are a great organizer & communicator, then this job could be for you. Please contact Craig Colby, VP of House League (craigcolby6@gmail.com) if you would like more information.

Equipment Reminder:
This is a reminder that every child needs their own helmet & bat this year in addition to their regular baseball gear. We will also be requiring all players to wear masks and bring hand sanitizer with them.

Some Divisions still Open:
If your children have any friends in the 6U (2015), 13U (2008 & 2009), or 18U (2003-2007) age groups, we still have space. Encourage them to register as soon as possible via the Registration page on the website.

Select Teams looking for Players:
The following teams are still looking for players and are holding tryouts this coming week.
  • 9U – Born in 2012
  • 15U – Black team – Born in 2006 & 2007
See the website for more information and how to register for the tryout. Select team players will NOT place House League this year only.

East York Baseball Camp:
EY Baseball Camp is excited to again offer safe and fun half day camps to develop baseball skills throughout 9 weeks of the summer. For more information, please visit www.eastyorkbaseballcamp.com website. If you are interested, do not delay registering online as some sessions have already reached their capacity and others are closing soon. Any inquires can be made to Andrew Pace (647)-899-4312 or pacebaseballcamp@gmail.com. East York Baseball Camp is run by Pace Baseball Limited.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the park soon!
